So it just gets funnier, huh?? (There has to be a "Quote of the Day" in this... Carol P.?)

Or Grey wagtail?

Greys and Yellows confuse me totally - because the "grey" looks "yellow"... go figure. (I can usually do Pieds, but...) OK. I will stick with Pied. Donna??

Did he have the newspaper?

Clarification: I was on the phone with MAK and she was telling me about the Hoarders episode last night. Apparently these people had cats and the "feces" in the house was 6 inches thick. Ok, so I was multi-tasking when I posted these pics. It was suppose to say "He left after "THIS" shot...not "POOP". I even previewed before posting and still didn't catch it. I swear I don't even remember writing POOP.
(I had to fess up).  stupid No more Multi-T for me.  wave

So Bobbie, the answer is NO!  devil

crazy rofl laugh rofl hysterical rofl 2funny rofl  (3ft. thick not a mere 6in.  PU!)

MAK, I started to post a reply to Donna's clarification... then I said to myself: Do NOT go near THAT one! You are a BRAVE WOMAN!

confused   My guess is an immature Yellow Wagtail. I'm sure that's wrong but what the heck! I gave it a shot.    harhar

I'm saying Wagtail too, MAK... maybe Pied?

Today's.."Who am I"

His name is James Hayes!  secret2

Thanks, Donna - don't know who he is... probably should!

Not gonna guess first on this one... I probably ran outa luck on IDing the last two! Anyone else?

Hey, Donna - you should make this a regular "feature" - I promise, I WILL play!
4164  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Pictures from the Rfalconcam cameras on: 14-Sep-10, 07:29:02 AM

He got that from his Grandpa.

Shaky may not say much but when he does...

You mean I was right? Eeeeee-haaaaa!

Donna, what's the fellow's name who puts the pix up on FB? Might know him. Keep those pix coming... I'll take a stab at most anything... I ain't proud!

Why so many bands? I am only guessing, mind you - the BTO operates the ringing (banding) scheme in Ireland and Britain. It is also associated with other European schemes (tho the BTO is usually the main arbiter/operator). The Spoonbill would have been ringed somewhere in southern Europe at its birth site, and the rings would ID (perhaps) location, a particular ringing scheme, a unique bird ID, of course... and the list continues. I could ask one of ringing buddies, tho... in case the preceding is mere twaddle...

Yup. Plastic bag.
4166  Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / "Trophy" hunting on: 14-Sep-10, 06:27:26 AM
Guess I will never understand the mind-set of people who hunt for sport, not for food...

Lion and leopard numbers in Tanzania will crash unless fewer big cats are killed by trophy hunters.

Trophy or 'sport' hunting can be used as a conservation measure, with the money hunters pay being used to help protect a wider population of animals.

But even in Tanzania, which is open about how much trophy hunting it allows, too many big cats are being killed and of the wrong age. So say conservation experts who have published a new study of the industry...

OK, guys, stop it! I got a busy day going around here, so not lots of play-time...

That is probably not a Sparrowhawk... eye looks ok, but not the tail. And if it were a Sparrowhawk, why would somebody post its pic, as it is not rare.

And Donna, lissen here to me! Just because they are in my neighbourhood does not mean we are acquainted!  paperbag

Here's a story along these lines... In my eagerness in my early years of birding, I used to go out with the Big Boys... kinda accepted, as I was vaguely amusing - but still viewed with suspicion and a bit of annoyance. One of the kinder members of the Twitcher Brotherhood, however, was very patient, and when I said "Oh! LOOK! Out there! Near the tide line!", he obligingly raised his bins and had a careful look. Lowering them, he looked at me as I gazed back in excitement... what had I found?! "Uhhhh, Bobbie..." (I hung on every word!) "Uhhhh... Love... It's a plastic bag."

I rest my case.

Look at all the bands on this guy! Who is he? Easy one, even though I didn't know!

These are in Ireland Bobbie!

another "who am I?"
[/quote]

The one with the bling could be a Spoonbill... the other, the BoP, could be a Sparrowhawk - I think... but then... there's that word "duffer" again! (Sure do wish I could figure out Facebook... the things I must be missing... like who the niece is dating... what the nephew got up to at the weekend... that sorta stuff...)
4169  Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Re: Wild peacock population ruffles feathers at Avoca (UK) on: 13-Sep-10, 10:23:28 AM
Is it an albino or do they come in all white too? stupid

The White Peacock is frequently mistaken for an albino, but it is a colour variety of Indian Blue Peacock. Its white colour makes it looks really magnificent and elegant.

Lady GaGa ain't done nothin' in comparison with this lad!

No Bobbie I didn't fall out but I sure was excited! Lisa and I high fived and all 4 of us were grinning from ear to ear! We surely had luck on our sides. Maybe while you're here we could organize a get together with the watchers and meet you. wave

Yeah do it!  clap

Oh my word, everyone! THANK YOU!! I am sooooooo excited that I might finally put faces to all these Forum names! Thank you again and again! I will email MAK before I get back with contact details - "doing" Montezuma with you all would be the biggest thrill!!! (You will then get to see what a total duffer I am! As a friend of mine from college used to say - and it applies here, I think: "We may not be good but we sure are loud!")
