HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Hope you are all awake to see the ball drop (a sentiment that no one here will understand). Slainte!! Bobbie, is it that people don't bother to stay up till midnight there, or do they simply not see the value and fun of standing outside in the freezing cold at midnight to watch 60 seconds of lighted balls being lowered from tall buildings?Oh, they'll stay up all right - in any kind of weather! And til all hours - MUCH later than Americans. But they do not have The Ball here - even tho I understand the one in NYC is made of Waterford Crystal. Just kinda funny that the Irish would not have a clue what we are talking about. (I feel a Shaky quote coming in here, but I will demur...)

There's a reason outdoor cats have an average lifespan of 2-4 years. A nesting pair of hawks could bring the average in your neighorhood down. Keeping Rocky inside could move that average up. My cats enjoy the birds and squirrels from a warm, safe spot: on a cat perch by the picture window in my kitchen. Mary in Charlotte (NC) How difficult is it to have an indoor cat, Mary? Is it kind/cruel? I don't know. We live in the country, but the road out front is a danger for any feline... as we know, to our sadness. But I never know whether one can train a cat to stay in one room. We have open doors, windows - so it may not work.
