Winning male name: Mercury with 35 votes.
Winning female name: Christa with 12 votes.
Winning gender-neutral name: Genesee with 32 votes.
What does this mean?
One of the three eyases will be given the winning name from either the appropriate gender-specific poll or the gender-neutral poll, whichever received the most votes.
If the eyas is male, he will be given the name Mercury because it received more votes than Genesee.
If the eyas is female, she will be given the name Genesee because it received more votes than Christa.
The eyas and its three siblings will be named when they are banded.
Although Christa will not be used this year, it is still a great name for a falcon, and we'd like to thank George Liebmann of Greensboro, North Carolina for submitting it.
The names of the people who submitted Mercury and Genesee will be announced at banding.
OK. I am a doof. But I have a question: We have 3 top names, and 4 eyases. Where do the other names come from, if we are not using all of the Top 3? Who provides the "extra" names? Seems to me we have 3 names already, and need a 4th... but what do I know!!! Anyway... Ta!
