Well that explains it and it sux the eaglet has to leave 2 sets of parents and 2 sets of parents have to give up an eaglet! At least it has a chance. Hmmmmm... I have to reread and think about this. Is this the chick's best chance?? It's the only chance it will have to be released into the wild. Whether they move it now or in another month it will still have to move. Right. I get it. Thanks, everyone!

Was the eaglet abandoned by its own parents? The four-week old eaglet from Dan Nicholas Park was transferred to CRC yesterday to be cared for by our resident mated pair, Savannah and Derek. The bird was hatched at DNP but the enclosure was not ideal (too much exposure to the public), which is why the bird was relocated. Yes, I read that in the piece, DG... but it STILL seems that the chick was taken away from its parents. Even if the site was too exposed?? Anyway - I am probably missing something quite simple... like myself...

I find it interesting that it is mostly one-sided. The female stays on the eggs for as long as she wants. The male does not approach the eggs until she has left. When she returns at the time of her choosing, she expects him to leave even if he is not ready.
Thanks, Shaky. I would love to understand the "psychology" behind this. As far as I have noted, it is DC who is more reluctant to leave. Yes? No? Maybe so???
