Explanation For Dead Birds In Romania: Birds Were Flying Drunk
"There was nothing mysterious about the death of a flock of birds in Romania last week -- they were simply drunk, veterinarians said.
Residents of the Black Sea city of Constanta alerted authorities on Saturday after they found dozens of dead starlings, fearing they may have been infected with bird flu, which triggered mass deaths in avian populations in 2004-2006.
`This also applies to two dead crows we tested,` Lazar said. Birds are not used to alcohol but harsh winter and snow had prevented birds from finding food. Had they been able to eat some seeds, this would have diluted the poison."

But this explanation is only for a few dozens of birds and there were a lot more:
Thousands of dead black birds were found dead in 3 cities in Romania. In Constanta more than 1000 dead birds, in Bistrita 400 black birds also dead, in a vilage near Bistrita olmoust 600 birds were dead this evening. The local police said the birds were poison, but the resident's deny this version. Many people think this is the start of what the Maya civilization called end of the world greetings Aafke

Yesterday Robert and I went out for a day of birdwatching. It was a great succes with thousands of geese and hundreds of Whooper Swans and a lot other birds. At one moment we were looking over the sea for seabirds at than I saw a big dark thing very close by. It was a seal. I never saw a seal before in the sea and I live next to the sea for over 50 years. He tried to come out the water but didn't succeed, he tried and tried again. I felt very sorry for the seal, specially because he was in a part that is surrounded with big stone blocks, with only a small piece that is connecting with the sea, it will be difficult to find the way back to the sea. I had no idea what to do, who to ask or what, but I had to know if this was normal behaviour. So I called Kerwin, luckily he was at home and was able to look for the telephone number of the seal shelter. I talked with a very friendly man. He promissed me that someone was coming to look if there was a real problem with the seal but as long as a seal is swimming, it's almost impossible to catch him and probably he will find his way back to the sea. So we left and I didn't heard anything of it so I think it will be ok with the seal. greetings Aafke
