I was up at the Croton Nature Center today and so was this bird.  Do you think the bird saw me?

Legs new name is Jack, in honor of My friend Mike's father and Jackie Kozlowski who works with Phung Luu.  I suggested it and they used it. Luu said he is not like any other peregrine they have worked with.

Update on our unreleasable 2011 Jersey City guy.  He is doing well with Phung Luu and Jackie in the Animal Behavior and Conservation Connections programs.  ABCC now has a Facebook page.  He was also at

Heh, heh, rhino.  Yes, NJ peregrines don't go anywhere.  We have reports of Jersey City pair in the area all year long.  And I can always count on seeing the peregrine pair at Stateline NJ/NY border.

Black/green could be NY or NJ. Hoping it is someone I know.  And the drama continues.  NG is migrating through, right?

Just wish she could lose that thing.

While I am appalled at the fate of the young falcon, I can totally relate after learning about the difficulties our Jersey City bird last year faced.   I don't believe Jack has even flown at this time, a year and a half later.  He could not get the nutrients he needed in te first eight days of his life.    His feather development is totally off. 

Falcons need to fly free.  Although Jack had many people early in his life and he is bonded to humans. 

Let's get real here.  If it were Jemison, would Dot or Beauty or Orion tolerate him IN the nest box?  Like, NO!

Awww.  I've been fooled by poop on the band numbers as well as by the light.  But the band really does look greenish and the number has been poop arted to a five.  No way would the residents let Jemison do that.

Stupid me.  Forgot to change the month to Sept.  yes, I see him.

I checked the archive viewer.  No sign at all on any of the cams.  ???

Now I'm excited yet again.  The Rochester drama continues...
