The MTA workers probably named her.  It might be possible to find out. Plus, if we can locate Dave Gardner he might know.

The photo by Dave Gardner could be of your female as an eyas on top of the Throgs Neck Bridge.  Not sure when the picture was taken.

Totally believable.  Somehow I have to get some more of the stories from the staff at 10 Exchange Place in Jersey City into print without getting anyone into trouble.  They reported that Athena or Six has flown into the building on the 29th floor after a pigeon.  They have almost stepped on the bird as they checked equipment and doors.  They leave the doors open because of the heat sometimes.  One time, the peregrine was just sitting on the pipes inside watching the back of the room very intently.  They managed to get the bird out and later found a very smart pigeon hiding under the pipes.

Way to go, NYC falcons!!   It's hard to believe that young survive on the Throg's Neck Bridge.  She's a tough gal.

462  Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Peregrine falcons scattered my backyard birds on: 16-Jul-12, 05:20:19 PM
I'm sitting out on my deck yesterday afternoon before the rain came.  The birds were enjoying the food at my feeders.  All of a sudden, WHOOSH, every bird took off like bullets.  I looked up and saw those familiar pointy wings gliding overhead.  The falcon was scouting out the area I assume.  This year I only have seven pigeons who come regularly to my yard.  Pigeon abatement program at the church where they roost.  And we have had peregrines in the area for the past year.  Maybe the peregrines have a scrape at Sing Sing.  Could be.

No, my camera was still packed without a card.  Now it is sitting with a card on the kitchen table right next to the deck.

The family gave me a retirement gift trip to Costa Rica.  I got the first set of pictures up on my blog.  Enjoy!  I certainly did.
