Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: So, What Does Everyone Think about the Rochester Falcons Situation?

Like Shaky said,
"There are many dedicated people who keep it all going.
I just fill in the cracks."
It is really about the Rochester Falcon Folks. Just think what an entertaining year it has been on this forum and that's without fledglings in Rochester. I absolutely had to check out the falcon soap opera every day. Little did you guys know you had a real romance novel brewing in Toronto. I had hoped to get up there in July, but life got in the way. (I really do go up to see the fledglings.) And I LOVE visiting with everyone. You all seem to be so happy to see anyone who posts or watches the forum. The Genesee River that flows through the center of town is quite beautiful as is Lake Ontario.
Trust me, the falcon fledglings will be there in abundance next year. Don't forget, you have three relatively young falcons determining territories and pecking order. Let's keep our fingers crossed and our eyes to the skies and on the internet.

I wandered. He is from my hometown area. The cooper's hawks look like they are from the place near my mom's house. Just visited and got pics of the hawks bathing and playing in a condo courtyard right next to people walking dogs and running. The nest is in a tree right in the middle of the courtyard. Unfortunately my pictures don't look quite like his.
Thanks for the link.

My birds usually lay once a year, but Vinnee did have three clutches in one year. If she has laid two eggs so far there is less risk of egg binding. The passage way is stretched. Lay off the tea, cheese doodles, pizza and snack foods. She WILL eat the good stuff. Apples, fresh corn, peas, broccoli, carrots, chicken, eggs with shells. Just chop stuff up into conure sized bits. Choose salt and preservative free things. Get the box. She will like that. Place it high in the cage. If you remove eggs, she will keep laying to replace them.

Put a nest box in the cage and put the eggs into the box. They normally stop at five or six, but only if she has eggs to sit on. Then let her stay with the eggs for 30 days until they just don't hatch. The tums, calcium, egg shells, fresh fruits, vegs, meat, chicken, fish and eggs along with her seed diet help.
Vinnee (16 years now) had six clutches and her offspring have laid three clutches, six eggs each. One clutch hatched. Two were not fertile and, oh yes, Vinnee laid two infertile clutches after that. I just let the birds do their thing and then it's over.
Get the box, though. Put a very few pine chips in and let her be.
