I'm watching my own inside flock. Just added a scarlet macaw!!!  Up to the sweet sixteen. I've taken photos at Raptor Trust and been busy with work. Still not retired. Considering working another year. I like money  And our resident eagles are entertaining us.

I've taken part for two years and will be at it again all day on Dec 18.  It is a unique event and we end it with a chili dinner cooked by our premier bird person who is also a NYC firefighter.  Yes, he was there 9/11.  Just had a carolina wren and cooper's hawk at my feeders. Hope they come next week.

Hey, that's in my siggy.  Thanks.  (see, I do still visit here occasionally)

Thanks, Mak.  I especially enjoyed Georgette.  I wonder why.  Lauren, at Raptor Trust, kept her out for an especially long time just for me.  She was fine.  They were a little worried she might get too stressed after raising those eyases this summer.

I donated to Raptor Trust in New Jersey today and went to their Focus on Raptors.  10 photographers pay and get to take pictures of the birds in a natural setting.  The only drawback is that the birds have to wear their jesses and be tied to a perch.  But they seemed to manage.  Here are pictures of Georgette (and there is a twirly head for Dale and Donna):

Here is a video of Friday's release of 00/AE.  If you get upset by territorial aggression, don't watch it.  00/AE appeared to be just fine when we left after watching her for two hours.  Mike went back on Saturday and the adult female was calm.  There was no sign of 00/AE.  We hope she flew the coop and is out of JC.

We are holding our collective breaths that she gets out of that area before being seriously pummeled by her parents.  Everyone realized after the fact that it was mistake to release her in that area.  The problem was that NJ Fish and Wildlife has had successful late releases there.  Just not this time.  So keep your fingers crossed for a little while longer.  Mike will be there today and tomorrow.

On a very good note, there was little hope she would ever be able to successfully fly again.  She is one tough big gal.

We released our #00/AE (Michaela) in Jersey City today.  She is flying high, strong and deftly.  We watched her for two hours.  We are hopeful she will leave the area very soon.  She showed agility as she got away from her agitated mom.  Six Pack lived up to his name and just watched and then left.  There was some communal soaring and mutual preening between mother and daughter.  Pictures are coming.

I got to see a few of the migrating birds today.  Just hope some of those Rochester birds stray to the southeast.  And Jim Eyring put on his birds of prey demonstration.  I got to practice taking pictures:

There is a peregrine in the group.  And he flew her.  Wonderful to watch.

Just saw this thread.  Ei, I think the scrape is closer to either the west side of the bridge.  Actually, I believe Chris Nadreski lives somewhere close.

Mike's juvie, #00 or Michaela as I call her, with the broken wing was definitely put into an outside flight cage over the weekend.  Fingers crossed here that she will be flying free shortly.  Although I would love to see and photograph her during the Focus on Raptors Day at The Raptor Trust on October 16.

Mike has seen an unbanded juvie at DeKorte.  It could be the same bird.

Oooooh!  I want to go, too!  I have to tell Mike.  He goes there all the time.  Find out which scrape the bird came from.  Looks like it is not banded, though.

 2thumbsup

Tell your brother he is a bad birdy daddy to teach the bird bad habits, LOL!!  I'm not quite sure exactly what Skittles says some of the time, but he says the usual, hi, hello, Wow, Skittles Birdy, good boy.  I learned he was an educational bird and visited schools.
