For Donna, Skittles is the scarlet macaw who has the colors of Skittles candy.  Let's hopehebecomes totally mine.  He is a rescue but his new home is having a baby.  Given scarlets are very noisy and extremely messy it will be hard to care for him.  He and my gray are close, so I hope he can stay.   

Our Jersey Girl with the broken wing who was found  and rescued just as the tide was about to swallow her, is doing well.  My partner, Mike, went to visit her last Sunday.  She is being moved to an outside flight cage.  It seems there is a chance she could be returned to the wild.

I was supposed to go see her, too, but I went to pick up Skittles, a scarlet macaw, instead.

I was there the day Alkyonis was released the second time.  I almost ran into the team as they crossed the street to take her up for the release.  I was in the motorhome with my daughter and grandsons.

I love the good news stories.  Gotta go post about our Jersey Girl.

Soooo, when will we meet?  I am so close you.  I want to go to Edgewater to see the Quaker parakeets since I have one who has kind of become a yard resident.  I have given up hope of capturing it.  It must be wild.  Plus, you must get to Jersey City when the peregrine birds fledge.  But Water Street has the best fledge views.  Riverside Church is dicey.

 

We've got one, but I don't have a cockatiel.  I believe Carol P has two, however.

Re Shaky's movie:  Are you sure that was Archer kakking?  My birds went crazy when they heard the calls.  I think they were calling back to him.

Yippee!!  Yay!  hallelujah!  I am so happy for Jemison so far.  Just hope s/he has learned about the dangers of buildings.

Woo, hoo!  I met Debra and Gail in Jeraey City.  Raptor Trust really does do a great job rehabilitating birds.  We should get some news about out Jersey Girl soon.  Actually, she was doing very well a couple of weeks ago.  And how about Jemison?

 Those kingfishers really put on a show for us.  Love the hover craft.  And I always enjoy seeing your falcon pics.  You are one of the reasons I invested in a better SLR and good lens.

I think Calli is showing her daddy that she can touch her toes and fly at the same time.

Never fear! Actually, folks are out a lot, watching even without the official calendar!  Dan S has never signed up for a watch but he and MAK are out from about 5-5:30 AM and Carol is out after work until about 7.  Brian is out during the day and then the rest of the gang is out during various times!  We also have the "support personnel"-- people who work around the area and let the other watchers know if something is going on.  We're really lucky to have such a group!

You don't know how lucky you guys are.  Really.

The bird will only live with me if it chooses.  I have 16 birds at my house right now.  One scarlet macaw is a guest for a year or so.  I have a friend of a friend who just lost his bird.  It may go there if it chooses.  I kind of watch what the bird does and we go from there.
