Our fourth girl is totally healed and will be going into a flight cage on Monday. She should be back during the week. The other three little maids have become very accomplished fliers. We witnessed all three chasing Athena for brunch. Six Pack lived up to his name and just sat on the other side of the building. One girl circled that building about four times later. Here are a few pictures:

I just read a few whole articles about the Queens to Brooklyn move. Two chicks hatched atop the Throgs Neck Bridge and two chicks were moved from the Throgs Neck to Verrazano Narrows Bridge. It also said they 'found' the eyasses. So I don't know if another pair chose a different spot on the bridge or not. ??
And the scrape on the Verrazano is on top of the Brooklyn tower. But the Throgs Neck scrape is on top of the Queens tower.

I don't know where the scrape is on that bridge, but it could be under the roadway or way up high on a tower and close to Brooklyn. If Chris thought it was safer, then it is. He also put that box on top of the south tower of the Throgs Neck Bridge and I thought that was not safe, but apparently it is, too.
I wasn't going to post this given our sensitive year here in Rochester, but one of the Broadway Bridge fledglings broke its leg. Bruce Yolton thought it might have to be euthanized. Don't know the result. I saw both fledglings eating a pigeon about three days before. Now that doesn't seem like a safe bridge to me. Chicks are close to the rail of the subway and roadway below.
Funny, I just learned about this from a falcon watcher at Riverside Church. Saw one eyas/fledgling there. Both parents were at/near the scrape.

Seems to me most have been OK if they caught a gust of wind and went off before their time, except for our Barbie in JC. They think she hit something on her way to the 37th floor terrace last week. There were some light poles where she could have caught her wing. But she is healing nicely and should be back next week.

Well, well, well welcome to the world of most falcon fledges. I dont mean to be flippant here, but it could be a dangerous situation for the fledglings this year. Yes, we may have heart failure when they go to the edge. You have been spoiled there in Rochester with ledges and terraces on the Kodak Tower.
If I haven't made the point before, I will now. Cliffs and buildings may or may not have places for the fledglings to make it back to the scrape. Here is my NY list:
Albany No Syracuse Maybe Water St No Riverside Church. Yes Broadway Bridge. Yes Verrazano Narrows Bridge. No Throgs Neck Bridge. No Buffalo. Maybe Bayonne Bridge. No Jersey city. 37th floor and above Elizabeth NJ. Maybe Bear Mountain Bridge. No Nyack beach state park. Yes Stateline Lookout. Yes
I'll think about the rest more

I have offered to go and give an attitude adjustment to the boys. They would have to spend a day with me watching the peregrines. After that they would never throw anything at any wildlife ever again. Don't underestimate the power of a Kindergarten Teacher!!
Update from my friend, Mike, who was down there today. Our fledgling is doing very well. Don't know if the other two fledged, but I suspect they did. He had one on the east side of the scrape and did not know the whereabouts of the other, but the parents kept watching where they were all perched on Saturday and Sunday. I have good feelings about the others. Our first girl could be back as soon as Monday if her clavicle has healed enough. The thought at Raptor Trust was that it would.

Here is a pic of the fledgling with one of the adults. I do believe this is Athena (Mike and I named her, sorry Linn P) and one of her girls. The bigger one is the fledgling of course: The almost whole family: And have you ever seen an upside down peregrine? Update on our first almost fledgling: She does have a broken clavicle that has started to heal on its own. She will be in Raptor Trust for the next week until the x-ray technician gets back to take a picture of the break. Until then it would hurt for her to fly and she would most definitely get into trouble again. She is in a darkened room being kept calm. My friend, Mike, said she looks good. It is 03/AE or Barbie as I started calling her.
