It's that Mexican red nailpolish!  Hey - it worked for Quest for all these years?    :-)

 clap clap clap

Tacky blue hat? God knows how many hundreds.
Tacky cream hat? God knows how many thousands.

Knowing that Quest was a trend-setter three years before the wedding (and always looks regal in her own feathers)? Priceless!

The team ran into a bit of trouble when they found their can of neoprene cement had solidified, but not to worry! They found an able substitute: Mexican Red ladies’ nail polish! The team used it to seal the knots in the heavy nylon thread (otherwise known as mint dental floss!) that secures the transmitter to the harness.

Could this be why the transmitter and harness are still on? Perhaps they should consider Mexican Red a permanent alternative? Quest has certainly proven it's possible to carry on normally so far!

P.S. What brand was this? You realize it's been a three-year manicure!  surprise

I should remember - he normally presents his right side to the camera! Cheesy
There is a bright feather on his right wing.

Yep! Unfortunately, it was Beauty's left side to the camera - I tried the other cameras, but couldn't find his feather in the shadows - she was on the eggs, left, and I thought a change had taken place... oh well! Should have gone farther back in the archive! gum

Yesterday after Don and I checked the Syracuse falcon pair, we headed home by way of Montezuma.  We went on the wildlife drive looking out for anything new!  What a treat, at the new shore bird area we saw a Marbled Godwit!!  Neither of us had ever seen one before.

402  Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Wild bird photo challenge series on: 24-Apr-11, 12:56:20 PM
dpreview.com is constantly posting photography challenges of all sorts, and I came across their wild bird series.

Thought most everyone here might like taking a peak, as some of the shots are quite phenomenal...

Also, thought some of our member photographers could improve the content of any new challenges in the series, as we definitely have some talented eyes 2thumbsup, and peregrines seem to be underrepresented thumbsdown!

Enjoy!

404  Support / Camera Problems / Re: Main cam on ustream very dark *DEFERRED* on: 21-Apr-11, 03:10:02 AM
The dark images are due to a faulty camera. The only way to fix the problem is to replace the camera, which cannot be done until October.  In the meantime, we'll be showing one of the other 4 cameras on Stream 1 at night.

Does this account for the main cam being stuck on the same image since 11:35 p.m. Wednesday night (currently after 3 a.m.), or is this a separate issue?
405  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Quest's new CPF page on: 20-Apr-11, 04:09:41 PM
I believe she's on the roof.    Someone mentioned a nestbox - does that mean this year?   With an egg already laid?

They are on the roof with a barely graveled scrape - there is no nest box. CPF is considering placing one at some point this season, as there isn't much there for protection of the eggs (i.e. to keep them from rolling away, etc.). However, there is a concern that placing one could cause them to abandon the site.

They currently have one egg; elsewhere in Toronto, they have a pair that has abandoned eggs on several floors of the same building. I don't think anyone wants that, so I'm sure CPF will be extremely cautious about introducing a box or pea gravel if that is a likely result.
