In general, they keep an eye on the nest from the various locations nearby, which we can't see on the camera - often there is one above the nest higher on the building...

They can, and have, adequately defended the nest, as recently as right after Beauty layed her first egg...

Lord G@rfalconcam 3 falcons battling over Chase tower.  A & B returned to TS nest after successful defense. Fem. Intruder nowhere to be seen.

Fear not... they're good parents...

Archer showed up almost at the moment the first egg was out of the sun, and stayed until the moment the second egg was out of the sun... making sure one didn't get too baked??

Hey, Ezsha! I was thinking that myself re the "Eastern Hemisphere". Where are you? And anyone else on this side of the Pond? Fascinating that we have watchers from far and wide...

I'm 45 minutes west of Archer and Beauty... 5 a.m. plus over here, and wishing I was asleep still... but glad to have something positive to direct my energies to instead of staring at the walls... there are a great number of you, I believe... I think Ei and Aafke (sp?), off the top of my head...

Looks like lots of us are waking up today to the terrific news of a second egg. Yaaaaay! (Then again, it appears that some watchers have never been to sleep - how DO they do that?!)

At least for me, who occasionally has a not-so-good night for other reasons, this is at least a way to be more positive during those can't-sleep hours... it beats playing solitaire with a deck that's short a card...

Orville welcomed a second new roommate its first night... it kept his beloved Beauty closer at hand...perhaps she would have more time to keep him close, too... after his first roommate moved in, he certainly had had more company, welcome after a long and lonely winter...
