I came across this site, with even more images to peruse.... Unfortunately for us, it's in Wales... but it made me itchy to go visit the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls, Ontario...

Taken over 350 hours of diving, 110 days at sea, these are from the IMAX 3D film Under the Sea.

Amazing photographs, on a white background, so you can really see the birds... including a fascinating secretary bird!

Temp was down to 33F 6:00 thru 6:19, back up to 34F now.

Who would have thought that beachcombing could be oh so much more interesting if you looked at the sand?

How long does it take the egg to dry and harden up? I'm assuming the shell is still somewhat pliable to facilitate the laying process... and the shell still looked shiny wet for quite some time

I'm amazed they can take pictures like that. They must use a really tiny camera.

Actually, they use different kinds of microscopes... you can see the various types and the magnification in the details of each picture... Microscopes have come a loooong way since I last used one... here's a little more information, with even more links at the end.

See, you just had to tell her not to cry wolf anymore, and BAM... we have a beautiful dusky rose egg! Laid 2:38, as best I can tell... (Zoom in on main cam image; good views only on Cam 2 so far...)
