Fed and exhausted from their adventure...

After supper, all three present and visible - middle one is laying down, with one crammed on the back wall behind him/her.

Either Quest or Kendal left shortly before, after feeding them...
93  Other Nature Related Information / Falcon Web Cams / Re: Beauty's sister Belle at University of Toledo on: 04-Jun-12, 05:02:16 PM
We were all saddened to learn of Unity's demise, especially since she was one of our "graduates," but in her honor, one of the two females who hatched from the nest of Belle and Allen this year was given the same name. (There were two males as well.) So who knows who may once again swoop in from western skies...

We're still working on getting a fal-cam here at U of Toledo, but here's the helmet-cam view of what Ohio Division of Wildlife employees saw prior to the chicks' banding. Belle, of course, is mounting the most fierce attack.

The video's gone viral and was even picked up by Right This Minute News:

Are all three back in the nb? Looks like only two to me.

 I saw only 2 also

I believe the first one is hiding in the corner where the camera can't see him/her. It appeared she put all three back in, and they are huddling in that back right corner, away from all the scary big things...

1st one Male: 600 grams, Blaze  BLUE Tape

2nd 845 gram Female: Amora Red Tape

3rd one Female: 755 grams: Mira, Green tape.

Welcome Blaze, Amora and Mira and thank you Kathy O for sending the texts!! Congrats to Quest & Kendal.

For those who are gram-challenged (like me), here's the rough equivalent:
Blaze 600 g = 21.1 oz.
Amora 800 g = 28.2 oz.
Mira 755 g = 26.6 oz.

Thank you for keeping us updated from Canada, and welcome M&K's grand-eyases!

In heraldry, it appears the profile would be referred to as part of a 'chief battled embattled'.

The question has come up several times...what should we call the bump on the wall beside the deck and its mate on the other corner, seen here with red arrows?

My research has revealed the ones with the blue arrows are merlons "A merlon forms the vertical solid parts of a battlement or crenellated parapet."

Perhaps because they look like smaller versions of the merlons, perhaps they should be called mini-merlons, or mini-merl's or mm's for short.  Cheesy

After kicking her off around noon, DC did it again!

B started alarm-calling around 3:07, but evidently it should be annoyed-calling.

He flew in to the top of the nest box, and she didn't budge. So, with her still yelling at him, he bowed from the front perch. That didn't work. So, with his cheery, cheeky chirps, he came into the nest box, and gently kicked her out.

She proceeded to the front perch, still yelling at him, while he settled down on the eggs, and then she flew away still grumbling.

(movie)

It's amazing how pleased with himself he can look! He's got this down!
