Thanks Shaky.  I really enjoyed the tour!  I love Cape Cod.  It has been a part of my imagined idyll since I read  The Outermost House.  Your photographs of the humpback whales are outstanding!  Acadia has long been on my list.

Bad news and good news.  There are only two wild hatched chicks remaining:

The DAR chicks (Direct Autumn Release) have arrived at Necedah from ICF in Baraboo to learn how to be wild whooping cranes:

Thanks Aafke.  I have always been fascinated by the balletic movements of huge flocks of birds.  How the birds can act in concert is a mystery.  I have read some studies on the subject and have found no answers other than it is an effective way to avoid predation.  Perhaps they are just having fun!  And yes, the music is lame!

Three of the wild-hatched chicks survive.    Couple of great photos.

Thank you so much for posting this, Lou.  I am sorry that I have not have the privilege of visiting the Eastman House.  As I am a photographer, and so was my husband, we hung out with many West Coast photographers.  It was considered a badge of honor to have a print in the Eastman Collection.  (I do not!)

I have done much work with a panoramic camera the uses 35 mm film so I respond well to this format.  And in the course of 40 years in photography, I have exposed miles of Kodak film!

Thanks again.
