Small world, after all!  I had just wanted to update this page with the 'lost' pics on the eggs and eyas, and then I got to reading more closely on their website.  Zeus has fathered a bunch of babies, that's for sure.  At least Woodmen now has a statement asking for folks to report any sightings of their offspring.  And their webcam is okay with minimal sound, but Rochester still has the best!

Just found this link where Dennis Money mentions that Zeus is still producing in Omaha, from the original 1994 release of the Minnesota falcons.

Kitty, that is my understanding from Woodmen's family tree page and info on Zeus.  He is banded.

How old are Zeus and Hera?

Zeus was born in 1994, Rochester NY (#X/R).  Hera appeared in 2006, after Zeus' long-time mate Amelia died.  Hera is unbanded.  (This from the Woodmen website.)

May 6, 2012 - Five hungry eyas for Hera and Zeus!   

April 3, 2012 - Hera and Zeus had 5 eggs.

Woodmen now has a live webcam on the nest!  Just watched lunchtime with these 5 eyas.  These girls will be cruising the ledge in no time.

 

 

If this third egg does hatch, the little one should be named Miracle or Hope, or something along those lines.  I wonder if Beauty has a calcium deficiency, that may be producing too soft egg shells?? 

Sometimes, it is really hard to watch nature take it's course   

Banding day is set for Monday, June 6.

 

If you enlarge the photo and look closely, it sure looked like it was NOT empty.  The little one just didn't survive.

 

I felt so bad for Archer!  He just did not seem to want to get off the eggs.  And then Beauty started 'yelling' t him .. least that's what it sounded like to me!

 

To me, it looks to be a partially leucistic red-tailed or red-shouldered hawk; noting the coloration of the head/neck feathers.  It is a beautiful bird, and a nice pic from the distance.

 

11:50ish ... just watched B leave and A take over at the nest.  He settled in on his eggs like a real pro!

Well, just checked and it's  supper time at Woodmen.  Question is:  is this 4 or 5 eyas?
