Let's hope the horror of last year is not repeated, and that they all survive to fledge. 

Exactly what I've been thinking about.  Keeping positive thoughts!

From the website:  Hope laid her first egg of the year, on March 15 at approximately 6:35 am!

She had been seen on camera several times in January 2017; on January 13 she was there chee-upping loudly; Terzo could be heard calling loudly back to her from off camera.  Both birds have been seen on camera, although not for long stretches of time, as recently as February 22,2017.  As always, stay tuned!

At 11.32am this morning, 11th July, our osprey chick KP0 flew off the nest for the first time!

After several circuits of powerful flight over the loch, directly infront of the hides, she made a perfect landing back on the nest.

So … which of the other two young ospreys will take to the wing next?

The three youngsters have ringed - 2 females and one male.  Great pic of one sister mantling over her sibs, protecting them!

From Fontenelle Forest Raptor Recovery, regarding the male Hunter:

  "Hunter was thoroughly evaluated. Unfortunately he has permanent vision changes in his left eye. These changes will make it extremely difficult for his survival. He will not be releasable. We will work with USFWS permitted organizations to place him as an education or display bird.
  He may not be able to go back to the wild, but he will be able to make a difference by helping to educate the public about the importance of birds of prey like himself."

I am glad they caught this so early in his attempts to fledge.

Thanks for posting the video, Kris!  Mintaka was making noise outside as well.  He and Charity seem to be very attentive parents.

Woodmen Four were banded this morning, as well as mom Charity.  There are three females and one male, just like Rochester!  Let the naming begin. 

Amazing what the experts can do to assist.  I just looked in on him/her and it is grooming with a huge full crop!

DC is planning for the flying lessons to come, and the Powers box looks like a good hideout away from the kids for him. 

The youngster will be flying soon.  Not much white fluff left.
