But Michael Bartone, membership director of the Hidden Valley Club, a semi-private skiing area in Vernon, said club officials were able to build a snowman on Thursday. Exactly one year ago, he remembered that the temperature was 50 degrees.

He said the farmer's almanacs this year, along with wooly caterpillars, have made one thing clear.

"It's going to be a really cold and snowy winter." Bartone said.

Friends of ours used to have a house at Hidden Valley - wonder if anyone is blowing snow yet?  ???  My knees hurt just thinking about that!

We've had a few (less than 5) woolys this year.  I don't want ICE!
