I ordered the tee-shirts last week, and hope they arrive in time. Still haven't made a reservation yet, though. I re-checked the downtown hotels this weekend when we made three day trips to Rochester! At least we saw some awesome flying by the Callidora, Beauty and Archer  Suzanne

A double feature is playing at the Strasenburgh Planetarium through the summer that includes the "Falcons of Toronto" as one of the films. Check here for details:
http://www.rmsc.org/StrasenburghPlanetarium/Schedule/
My guess is that we'll see our friends at CPF in the film and maybe even some of our offspring. It's playing through the summer but only at 4:00 PM; a good time though for viewing the show, getting something to eat afterwards, and still having some time left for falcon watching...

How interesting! Any idea when the film was produced? I didn't notice in the little blurb.
Yes, a film on the Rochester Falcons would definitely have to be a double feature!

Be sure to check the Twitter topic (http://rfalconcam.com/forum/index.php?topic=317.0;topicseen) before leaving your hotel. This will usually give you a better idea of where the falcons and falcon watchers are located. Then use the Falcon Landmarks map (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&gl=us&ie=UTF8&view=map&msa=0&msid=113971923413246279064.00046b277dfa2d0212e58&ll=43.180772,-77.60416&spn=0.061711,0.110378&z=13) to find that location.

Any suggestions for those of us who will be computerless while in Rochester?

If your cell phone has texting capability, set it up to follow the watchers on Twitter before you leave home.
You can also ask to use your hotel's business center if it has one. The will be at least one computer in there that has Internet access. You can read the forum from there. Public libraries have free Internet access too. The Rochester downtown library is just across the Genesee River from the Times Square building, and there are library branches in all the suburbs. Check locations and times online (http://www3.libraryweb.org/hours.aspx?id=95&ekmensel=c57dfa7b_12_13_btnlink).

For myself personally I'm sure I'll be fine. I was just thinking it might be best to set up a time & place each day for everyone to meet & get an update on who's where etc.

I was going to write that one myself as I have "just a phone" too. Any plans for a gala or get-together breakfast? Just wondering-haven't read about anything that's going on yet.

Glad to read that I am not the only one with "justa phone." I will probably just drive around on Friday afternoon/evening looking for watchers, as I don't know exactly when I will get there. A meeting place for Saturday morning would be good, even if there is no "official" breakfast planned, to get all the visitors, who are arriving at different times, organized. I am really hoping that a lunch or dinner at Dinosaur BBQ can be included somewhere in the weekend...I've been dreaming about that place for two years now!

I'd opt for Saturday. Getting everyone together at the beginning of the weekend would make it easier to coordinate plans for the rest of the weekend. It is difficult for me to make anything to bring from a distance but, when I stayed there two years ago, there was a Tim Horton's across from my motel. As we have none of those locally, I'd be happy for an excuse to stop there to pick up some goodies to bring. Kapi in VT

TH's is a good choice.
In the past, we did the breakfast on Sunday so people who came in on Saturday didn't miss it. However, we had a more predictable situation back then when we could plan on meeting within walking distance of Kodak tower and the pedestrian bridge. We need to be more flexible this year.
Smaller, less formal tailgate breakfasts on both days would give us the most flexibility.

Anyone staying at the HYATT? If you are, the South Avenue Garage is connected to the Hyatt. You can take the elevator to the garage roof and check out the city from there. Brain H watches and many of his reports are from the roof. Since there has been a lot of city flying lately, it is a good place to observe the falcons in the air.
Facing WEST you can see the Jail Tower, Times Square, Widows Walk, Frontier Communication Tower (have to be in the right place), First Federal/Old Changing Scenes, Crossroads Building, and Kodak Tower.
Facing EAST you can see Bausch & Lomb, Zerox, Chase, some of Midtown.
If the falcons find the gorge, then it is back to the Pont De Rennes Pedestrian Bridge. Don't forget to check out location spots on Dumpsterkitty's Rochester Falcon Landmarks under Links.

Kathy O. sent an email last night about a show at the Strasenburgh Planetarium this weekend titled "The Falcons of Toronto." It will be showing at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday July 17. Here is the describition from the Planetarium's website.
THE FALCONS OF TORONTO Thirty years ago, peregrine falcons faced extinction in North America when DDT entered the food chain and killed their young. Now these champions of the sky have re-established themselves and some have forsaken the countryside to live in the city. These intrepid newcomers nest on cliffs of concrete and hunt in canyons of steel and glass. But while the city is a good provider, there are also hidden dangers in the urban jungle. An NHK Production
I will be attending the Saturday show, if anyone else wants to go, just let me know. Tickets are: $10 for adults, $9 for senior citizens, and $8 for children.

I'm coming and will arrive on Friday afternoon or so. I'll be there for Saturday breakfast and I can bring my famous falcon toast with cream cheese this time. Would love to put on fresh pigeon meat, but...
I could use a place to park the motorhome. I'll be by myself this year. Some of you get nervous when I overnight on the streets by the gorge.
I'll be leaving Sunday depending on the falcon action. And how tired I am from the festivities.
Count me in for the Sat pm Toronto falcon video.

A few of us here have been discussing how we might better organize things for this weekend and this is what we have so far:
We'll definitely have a Saturday Morning Get -Together at Aqueduct Park at 9:00 am. Here's a link to Eileen's map (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&gl=us&ie=UTF8&view=map&msa=0&msid=113971923413246279064.00046b277dfa2d0212e58&ll=43.180772,-77.60416&spn=0.061711,0.110378&z=13) (zoom in and find the marker with the green arrow on the west side of the river). At the park, the local Rochester Falcon Watchers will do it up Tailgater Style (ie, dish-to-pass) where we'll each bring something to share. The list below has what we have so far (see list below**). If other locals want to bring something, please post it here. At the park, we'll have a downtown street map available with a `Falcon Trail' marked on it showing various locations where the falcons may be. We're going to be at the falcon's mercy – they could be anywhere! If you have a walkie-talkie – bring it and set it to channel 7.1 so we can share whereabouts and events.
For those that want to experience the Dinosaur Bar-B-Q, we'll plan on doing lunch there and our thinking is that take-out is the way to go. We think that a large group and other weekend activities in Rochester will make it difficult for reservations – even at lunch. We can bring our lunches back to Aqueduct park or if there are picnic tables at the Dinosaur, we can eat right there outside.
As far as Saturday evening activities, there are several options for folks:
* Lisa McK is collecting names of people who want to go see the Falcons of Toronto/Dolphins (double feature) video at 4:00 p.m. at the Strasenburgh Planetarium which is only several blocks from downtown. I plan on going to that too. Hopefully, we'll have enough locals there to transport visitors if they need rides. That group can then decide if and where they want to go and grab something to eat before returning downtown for the evening watch. Here's a link to the Strasenburgh Planetrium site (http://www.rmsc.org/StrasenburghPlanetarium/Schedule/): http://www.rmsc.org/StrasenburghPlanetarium/Schedule/
* Another option is that there's a Baseball Game at Frontier Field with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra playing music to fireworks after the game. That's an easy option because the ballpark offers some good choices for food. The game starts at 6:05. Prices are $6.50, $9.00 or $10.50. Here's a link to the Rochester Red Wings Site (http://rochester.redwings.milb.com/index.jsp?sid=t534): http://rochester.redwings.milb.com/index.jsp?sid=t534
* Another option is for people to simply hook up with a local (loco?) and create their own plans for the evening!
We’ll also meet at Aqueduct Park on Sunday morning (9:00 am) but we won’t be doing a formal food thing. There might be some stuff, but best bet would be for folks to grab something to eat beforehand.
**Who's Bringing what to the Saturday Tailgater Breakfast (so far…) LOCALS – Add to this list please! Thx • Suzanne - Bagels , cream cheese • Lynda/Tim - A cool pastry/coffee cake thing (and tattoos!) • Joyce - Cut-up fruit, small bowls and spoons. • Lou - Coffee (2 boxes of Joe from Dunkin' Donuts) w/ cups, sugar, stir sticks, etc. • Jeanne - Juice, cups, something sweet and probably something else • Carol P. - Plates, Forks, Knives, Napkins, etc.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!

I am bringing falcon toast with chicken pate. I already had the chicken and ingredients and I used Julia Child's recipe for Country Pate. No pigeon livers, sorry.
I still need a place to park. I'll see you all there Friday afternoon. I don't think I'll be able to miss any of you. And you won't be able to miss me. LOL!!

Kathy O. sent an email last night about a show at the Strasenburgh Planetarium this weekend titled "The Falcons of Toronto." It will be showing at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday July 17.
Lisa McK.
MAK and Sue want to go Bill and I want to go too. Can we buy tickets there that night or is it better to buy online now?

And I could tell you about the nearly naked old fellow who showed up at Home Depot the other day... (wearing questionable skivvies and a dressing gown) And went shopping using the electric scooter provided. One of our "Expediters" helped him to the exit and into his car. It's anybody's guess where he turned up next... Carol WV

Just a reminder that if you park on the Broad St. bridge, you do not have to feed the meters. It's free on the weekend.
Also, the Jehovah Witnesses are in town. You might want to get down there a little earlier so you don't run into the crowds. Or you might just want to walk over from your hotel if you're close enough. I had a problem making the turn from Exchange onto Broad St this morning due to the crowds walking across the street to the War Memorial on the corner of Exchange and Broad St. Just an FYI.
Nite everyone!
