Money is always needed - think the Red Cross, for example, because money can be converted to food or whatever right now - the organization doesn't have to sell it or distribute it, or store it prior to distribution AND the exact specific need can be met with a couple of Uncle Grants (a childhood friend is a great niece of President Grant, hence Uncle Grant). ;) Title: Re: Jemison Update..........7/2 Post by: jeanne on 03-Jul-10, 11:14:40 AM Janet, you are wonderful!!! And very right. I know for a fact that Wild Wings was able to rescue a peregrine last year because donations made it possible. The falcon would have been euthanized had it not been for Wild Wings. She's a beautiful bird. There was concern that she might not be able to adjust to the new environment but the people at WW worked their usual magic and she is fine. They are so devoted to the animals.

This rehabber gave Mariah immediate attention and called in a vet who lives nearby. When he was called about Jemison, he said he would take him and also immediately called the vet to say Jemison was on his way.
If I am not mistaken, rehabbers do this as a labor of love and are not compensated. So donations really are helpful and needed. Jemison is doing really well. Yesterday he didn't eat much, but he made up for it today, eating everything placed in front of him all by himself. This is very good news.

I spoke to the rehabber this afternoon and was told that the XRays were put off until tomorrow (7/6/10. Nothing wrong with Jemison, it was just that the Vet was unable to do them today.
Gary told me that Jemison's wing was not drooping as badly as it had been when we first brought him in. He asked if I could come out for a quick visit to give my opinion. I said sure and asked if fellow Watcher Kathy O could accompany me. He said sure. When Kathy and I arrived, we very briefly took a look at Jemison, who stared back at us intently. I definitely see improvement in the way the wing is positioned. The drooping of his right wing was very evident when we watched him on the north side of the Time Square bldg. This to me was a very positive sign (again my opinion only). Jemison has been eating well on his own and drinking. So, we have to wait for the results of the XRays tomorrow. I hope Jemison is ok and will be able to return to his family soon. Carol P.
