Rochester Falcon Watcher:- Carol P.
Just a very quick update on Jemison.
As Jim P. reported, Jemison did go to the ground a 2nd time.- We noticed when he was on the low ledge, that his right wing was slightly drooping.- When he finally took off at around 7 pm, he could not gain any altitude, landing...

Thank you so much for the report, Carol. And please thank all the watchers! All of you are fantastic! Jem could not be in better hands! I will be waiting for additional reports and praying that they are good ones so Jem and fly free again soon!

In the meantime, we still have Calli to watch over.

BOBBIE hi, wow, welcome back here. Well, they had thought 2 females until Callidora kept getting bigger and bigger and Jemison stayed, well...in the smaller stature. We all just figured he was a male. Did you get a chance to visit with them? It sure has been a rough week as I assume you have read by now. Waiting for reports on Jemison. He really is a SUPER flyer, just a little too anxious and over excited. As I'm writing this I hear some kakking going on...could be Callidora wanting some breakfast. Have you seen the live video yet? It's AMAZING. Anything else, just ask, we'll help. Glad your back.

Quail is definitely on the menu.

Boy is he going to have a story to tell his sister!  Including, "you got the same-old-same-old !  I got this juicy quail".

All joking aside, and after reading all of the comments, I do think Ei's post from Mark Nash is a good one, which is to pretty much screw up early, get it over with, and learn a lifetime lesson.  We have all lived those life lessons and I guess our falcon babies need to learn them to.

Thank you all (I'm not going to attempt to name anyone), including the rehaber, the vets, Wild Wings, et al.

Just a very quick update.
Carrie and Shaky volunteered to contact Terry at Wild Wings who graciously offered some appropriate food for our young fledgling.

When I was in Rochester for the last Fledge Watch Weekend in 2008, I had the opportunity to tour the Wild Wings facility.  One of their major challenges is the increasing cost of providing food for their resident raptors.  While waiting for Jemison updates, you might consider visiting their website <www.wildwingsinc.org>, thank them for assisting Jemison,  and making a donation.

Great idea Kapi!

I'm going to joing right now, but I am going to request none of the "stuff" and ask that my donation be used exclusively for bird "food".

Thanks for the updates but most of all thanks to all the dedicated watchers.  Doesn't take long to get very very attached to these beautiful birds.  Thank you!

Good idea about WW.  Sending positive energy J's way.

I must say, I kept hearing "Born to be Wild" in the background whenever I read J's reports. Obviously wasn't paying attention during the safety lecture at flight school.  Hope he's back menacing his sister soon!

Yeah, well for some reason I have the Ghostbusters song in my head and it won't leave. Sad  Maybe I read something that had "in the neighborhood" in it. Who knows...Tequila....will do that I guess.
