Morning watch 12-14-13
By Rochester Falcon Watcher MAK
Can you say Brrrr!? 8 degrees (F) -13 (C) makes for some crispy, crunchy sounding snow under foot and a wind chill factor below 0. There was a couple more inches of snow laid down by Mother Nature last night with a forecast of another possible foot by this time tomorrow
I took some decoration pics while I rode around looking for a falcon. I didn’t see one until around 7:30am when I spotted one flying near Bausch & Lomb. I checked the area but never found it and since I had to make this a short watch I decided to go to our Brighton Site (BS)ย at that time.

Clinton Square tree and wreath
I arrived at BS about 8am to find Dot.Ca (DC) eating on the northwest corner ofย the northwest extension. He finished soon after I got there then flew west as Pigott perched on the front edge of the cubby.
2 down and 1 PEFA to go-I left straight away for downtown and eventually found Beauty on the Kodak Office Tower south side arch. This past week she had been perching on the west (left) side but this morning the Beautyful one was on the east (right) side of the arch. It was snowing pretty good so the pic is not good but you can see the salmon color of her chest.
I ended my watch at 8:30am happy and smiling for being lucky enough to see all 3 resident Rochester Peregrine Falcons!
There is 1 video link below-just click on it to see Beauty in the snow

Lovely festive pictures, MAK. And I love to see how our falcons find ingenious ways to take shelter from the snow. I’m glad you have such a good falcon eye!

Take it easy out there MAK! It’s snowing here too and in the 20’s.
I am so glad to see that all 3 of our precious falcons are safe!
Thank you! ๐

Thanks Pat-falcons are smarter than scientists and biologists say.
Ginny, all 3 safe and sound-they handle the weather better than we do! ๐
