Morning watch 5-29-14
By Rochester Falcon Watcher MAK
It felt chilly to me this morning at 53 degrees (F) 12 (C) with dark overcast conditions
It took about 20 minutes before I had my first falcon sighting this morning from the hole-it was Beauty on the west corner top ibeam of OCSR. Both Donna and Campgee let me know that she wasn’t in the nest box. Thanks ladies!

At 6:56am the Beautyful one stooped down toward the river where I lost sight of her behind buildings. A minute or so later she was on cam 1.
Beauty stretched her wings and did some scratching and looking around-you know, her usual and then she flew off at 7:08am and I lost her behind the Philippone building. I went in search of and got word from Donna (TY) that Beauty had food in the nest so I returned to the hole and found Dot.Ca (DC) under the southeast wing. I assume that DC brought food to Beauty during this time.
DC flew off to the northeast and I went looking for him-all these events took place in a matter of minutes of each other. From State St. I spotted DC on the top ibeam of the OCSR building right next to the west corner.
DC stayed there for the next 40 minutes or so looking toward Times Square and occasionally preening. At 8:01am DC dropped off the ledge and went into a stoop immediately going down the northwest face of OCSR toward the river. I lost sight of him behind the Rochester Plaza Hotwl.
When he didn’t come back I drove north to look for him. As I was checking Kodak Office Donna reported DC was at the nest box and then he left. Thanks again! On my way back I discovered Beauty on the top ibeam west corner of OCSR from State St.
I left for the hole to view the front of Beauty as she had her back to me and I discovered DC on the main cam.
I shared space with them until 8:30am when I decided to end my watch as they had things covered with Beauty on OCSR and DC preening on the main cam. It’s good to see them both out and about more now that the eyasses can keep themselves warm. This falcon family makes me smile! 🙂
