Lots of Activity This Evening! Thursday Evening Falcon Watch – 5/29/14

By Rochester Falcon Watcher Carol P.

The weather was a bit nicer this evening than it was yesterday.  Temps in the 60’s (F) and the sun finally made an appearance after a cloudy day.

Since the Broad St Bridge was busy, I ended up down on Aqueduct St, aka the hole.  From there, I could see Beauty up on top of Camera #1, aka Pan Cam.

Kathy O joined me and let me know that Dot.ca was on the base of the Mercury statue.  Beauty entered the nest box.  Dot.ca must have had food, because he flew up to the nest box platform and Beauty came out to meet him.  It looked like a food exchange.

Dot.ca took off and flew over to the west end of the top IBeam on OCSR.

Larry O then joined us, telling us that there was a falcon on Mercury.  We could still see Dot.ca on OCSR, so we went over to check it out.  Beauty was on the heal of the Mercury statue.  We had missed her coming out of the nest box.

While we were chatting and Kathy was giving Harold (Larry’s dog) a few treats, Beauty flew over us and landed on the well wall just below the pan cam.

Larry checked the live streaming feed on his phone and we could not see Beauty on any of the cameras.  Certainly the eyases could not see her there either.  Sneaky girl.  lol

After awhile, Beauty took off and flew towards the nest box, landing on Camera 4, which is on the left side.

Just before I left, at 8:00 pm, Dot.ca took off from the OCSR and landed on top of the Mercury statue.  This all happened between 6 and 8 pm.  All was peaceful and quiet as I ended my watch.  Goodnight all!
