Morning watch 9-5-12
By Rochester Falcon Watcher MAK
As I made my way up to the Broad Street Bridge(BSB) this morning I could see that Lynda and Tim were there with Dan and Larry. I was told that there was a falcon on Xerox. Larry went across the bridge to the north side to check the Frontier Communications Tower(FCT) and told us there was a falcon on it. 15 minutes later that falcon flew over the river towards Xerox and vanished behind it. Tim left Lynda with us after enjoying the various herons down in the river.
Larry and then Dan left us too and DebbieH came by on her way to work. She said she had seen 2 falcons over by the jail tower so I looked but they were gone. Lynda spotted Orion under the southeast wing on the Times Square building(TSB) and he was eating!
15 minutes later Donna was texting me to say there was a falcon on FCT. It turns out that it was Dot.Ca(DC) and he flew over to the jail tower and landed on the top of it.
He was watching Orion eat on TSB and Lynda said I bet he plans to steal that food and sure enough he flew over and bumped Orion off his ledge and started to eat what little was left. This isn’t the first time he’s done this and probably won’t be the last! lol All I can say is it’s a good thing Beauty didn’t see it or there might have been another argument between them. Hopefully he will learn as he is a first time dad and do better next year if they are still a pair then. We all know it’s not a sure thing after the changes that took place this year in our fair falcon loving city!
Orion flew over to OCSR landing on the top ibeam west side and after a few minutes went back to TSB to claim his food back from DC but dear old dad wouldn’t budge. DC finished up and when Orion flew above the TSB dad joined him and they flew off together to the north and out of view behind the OCSR. I thought perhaps they went to FCT so Lynda and I walked over there. We couldn’t find any falcons from the ground or from the top of the Sister Cities garage.
We walked back to the BSB on our way to the South Ave. garage where Lynda spotted a friend of hers (Mike) working at Thomson Reuters in his office right by Falcon Watcher Central. We started yelling and whistling to get his attention and he came right out. We went in to the lobby where I took a seat and Mike took Lynda up to the cafeteria to get a snack. We met the security supervisor(Art) and my friend Tom, the security guy that I see all the time down in the hole checking the building was at the front desk. Lynda was so excited when she came back down telling me what a great view there was of the nest box,TSB and Widows Walk from up there. So, we will have to shmooze these guys so we can maybe go up next year to watch from there.
We finally made it to the South Ave. garage but had the same result as on top of the Sister Cities garage-no pefas! It was at this time Joyce texted me that she would join us. Since there was nothing to watch downtown I asked if we could go over to Brighton(BS) to look for Pigott. Of course she said yes and off we went to meet her by the library to get picked up. It didn’t take long for Joyce to spot Pigott up on the same west side window ledge where she and I found Miss P the other day.
We left Miss Pigott after a short stay and ended our watch to go have some lunch. Lynda is a very excitable and fun lady to watch with and I’d like to thank her for buying us lunch. I also want to thank my pal Joyce for giving us a ride today. It’s good to have friends that make you smile! 🙂

Love the pictures of Miss P! I hope she finds a mate and has young ‘uns next year.
I wonder about the bond between our Ms. B and DC. It has been a rocky road at best.
Orion, the Hunter is the wonderful result of that rocky relationship, so we celebrate.
Thank you, Mak, for wonderful narratives and pictures. Write that book!
