Joyce, I think people from raptor resource org rapel to band falcons.

www.raptorresource.org

I hope someone can band her!  Shocked

Here is a response I got from Chad & Chris posted to CNMH:
Joyce-- and in answer to your questions, DOW checked out this nest several times to see if they could band, but in the long run they decided not to. First, they couldn't get the snooper truck to go in from on top of the bridge, and they couldn't block off Underpass Road with a truck because it's one of the only access roads into NASA with current construction that they are doing on another road. They decided not to try repelling down, because it would require swinging in to the nest because of the cubby "roof". We certainly can appreciate the legacy of Mariah and Kaver and understand that it would be special to be able to keep track of Seneca's first youngster. Now that Warrior is at 4 weeks of age and pretty mobile, the only way that they would band is if she ends up down after fledging and we have to get her, so we'll have to wait and see.

Avian bonding?...

Joyce, thanks for posting the response.  I was really hoping there would be a way to band Warrior, but  I guess not.  And I certainly hope they do not band her because she went down!

Love the pic of Warrior and the house sparrow happy

I feel a little sad for Warrior not having a sibling.  I'm sure she'll be just fine, but she'll miss out on all kinds of fun (and trouble) sisters and brothers get into.  Talon taggin, chasing, food tug of wars, and just plain old snuggling.  Seneca and Cheyenne will have to be not only her parents and teachers, but her partners in play and learning.

Maybe it will be like Mariah and Seneca-- Mariah spent a lot of time with Seneca because she was the last to fledge.  I hope for little Warrior, that it will be a special mom and daughter time.  It is sad that she won't be playing talon tag and having a sibling to snuggle with though.

It kind of looks like she is missing some feathers.  Is that normal.

I think Warrior will do well and get special attention from mom and dad. Yeah, it's no fun with no brothers and sisters but....

It does look like she's missing feathers, Jeanne. Here's a different angle.

Will that hinder her in flying? A split wing would be nice but missing feathers?

Oh, my, she is really missing feathers!  Hopefully it will not hinder her ability to fly.  We have lots of birds who are missing wing feathers and they fly fine, but it makes me wonder...and worry.

A recent pic of Warrior posted on the CMNH Forum taken by Craig Rieker.  Wonder why her cere is so dark?

Chad & Chris had mentioned the dark cere too.  Hopefully just a variation on the narrow dark stripe most have.
