By Rochester Falcon Watcher MAK

It was mostly cloudy with a slight breeze out of the north and a temperature of 18 (F) -8 (C)

As I looked up at Seneca Towers this morning I could just barely see the top of a falcon head on the northwest corner.

I didn’t stick around to wait for it to show itself. I arrived downtown about 8am and as I was checking the OCSR elevator shaft from Bragdon St. I spotted Dot.ca (DC) on the top ibeam southeast side. I drove around to the other end of the Radisson Hotel by Main St. to observe him from a closer distance.

Just like yesterday morning he was looking mostly south. I left Whitey, er, I mean DC to go look for Beauty. As I was pulled over on the Andrews St. bridge I noticed DC was on the northeast wing ring of the Times Square building (TSB) around 8:30am.

I left to get closer to DC once again parking on Irving Place which is a one way road behind Times Square.

DC flew off to the north as I was taping him. I thought he might be hunting some pigeons that flew the same direction but it turned out that he just scared them into flight as he flew through. I headed north myself and after a quick trip around downtown with no luck finding the Beautyful one I stopped on the Court St. bridge to check the river and water bird situation.

I then returned to my spot by the Radisson Hotel at Main St. where I found DC on the north side ledge of the OCSR elevator shaft-he was preening.

I wish I had seen Beauty but she was seen by watcher Pat this afternoon on Mercury as she tweeted and Joyce also saw her there, so no worries on that front. I had to end my watch at 9am but when I eventually got home to Seneca Towers at 11:15am 99 was there to greet me as I pulled into my parking lot. He was on the top set of windows (22nd floor) at the south end of the building and appeared to have a full crop.

There’s not a whole lot of room to just pull over in my parking lot and I got a couple disgruntled looks from other residents so I said see ya to 99 and moved on smiling after an all tiercel (male falcon) morning! 🙂
