Morning Falcon Watch/4 PEFA’s seen 1-2-16
By Rochester Falcon Watcher MAK
It was almost as dark this morning as yesterday with similar conditions -light snow, wind, overcast and a temperature of 28 (F) -2 (C)
I was parked at the north end of my parking lot at Seneca Towers and so I looked up before getting into my car-I could see Seth in his spot on the north end window ledge.
I drove over to East Ridge Road to observe him-he spotted something a couple minutes after I got over there, then Seth dropped off into a swan dive toward the river gorge.
I left for downtown at that point and as I was coming back from checking the east side of the river I spotted a falcon under the northeast wing of the Times Square building from Broad and Clinton Ave. As I checked from the hole parking lot I thought it was Dot.ca (DC) with his back to me-from every angle I checked I couldn’t get a good look at him.
Only when I drove over to check the OCSR elevator shaft was I able to decide that it was Beauty over on Times Square because I could see the white of DC on the north side ledge.
As I was looking at DC thru my little LCD camera screen the Beautyful one flew into the frame and just as she was about to land next to DC he flew off to the east and I never saw him again.
Beauty quickly turned her back to me so I left for the Medley Centre at that time around 8:45am. Larry reported at this time that he had a falcon over at the Brighton location so that saved me a trip over there.
On my way over to the Medley Centre I spotted Seth on the north window of Seneca Towers and Billie on the northwest corner below the railing. I pulled onto the off ramp to take a pic of them from East Ridge Rd.
The only sightings I had over at MC were a couple gulls flying over-there were no other birds around. I ended my watch there at 9:30am after seeing 4 of our resident Rochester Peregrine Falcons which, as you know puts a smile on my face every time! 🙂
