Weekend Falcon Watch – A Peregrine Pair & Snowy Owl Visit Downtown Rochester – 2/4/12 & 2/5/12
By Rochester Falcon Watcher Carol P.
I’ll let my pictures and report in this KGallery explain what we saw this weekend. So many things happened the visit by a pair of Peregrines to downtown Rochester today and a visit with a Snowy Owl in Downtown Rochester. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Thanks for the assist Donna and Ei. Your posts of seeing Beauty at the nest box were very helpful. Thank you!
If you’re interested and seeing and hearing about what happened today, check out my KGallery album at the link posted below this. No sign on needed.

Way cool. Unfortunately, I don’t think the Snowy will hang around for the rest of the year…

From Joyce:
“Sorry to report that the downtown Snowy Owl is deseased. The owl was spotted near noon on Monday in the exact same location as seen on Sunday, but it was no longer sitting upright. GVAS was contacted and the snowy was retrieved.
“It was given to our local expert who monitors the Snowy Project and bands these birds when they migrate south from the arctic. It was relayed back to us that the snowy was an unbanded adult female maybe 6-7 years old. There were no outward signs of injury and may have suffered some kind of trauma.”
