A Thursday Evening Falcon Watch – 12/20/12; Falcons Seen Today: Beauty, Pigott & BST
By Rochester Falcon Watcher Carol P.
Well, looks like winter is finally coming to Rochester, NY and it’s looking more likely that we’ll be getting a white Christmas! 🙂
Today’s Tweets:
4:20 pm – Carol P – “DT. Finally found B. She is already tucked into the OCSR elevator shaft. South ledge. Brrr!”
4:40 pm – Carol P – “BS. So far one falcon on the NW corner.”
5:00 pm – Carol P – “BS. Getting dark but it looks like P on the NW corner. Just saw BST zip around the bldg but I cant find him. Starting to rain.”
**************************************************
My falcon watch started downtown at a little before 4 pm. I drove all over the downtown area looking for Beauty, finally finding her already settled up in the OCSR elevator shaft on the south ledge. There is a lot of white wash below those ledges showing that she’s been there quite a bit.

She seemed settled, so I headed over to the BS location where I found BST, who I thought might be Pigott at first, up on the NW corner. I drove around the building, but had no luck finding Pigott. So back to BST I went. At 5:00 pm, Pigott flew in and zipped around to the front of the building. A few moments later, BST followed. I drove over to the NE end of the building to check their nighttime roost. Pigott was there on the 3rd window down, but I could not find BST (the BS location Tiercel). It was starting to rain and it was getting dark, so I called it a night.

On the way home, I cut through the city which was lit up beautifully. I’ll leave you with some pictures I took before heading home. As always, all you have to do is click on a picture to see a larger version. Thanks!

We were at the Aud tonight for Mannheim Steamroller and saw the tree on the side of the building on our way home. What building is this? It was really beautiful! Glad Beauty has a nice place to roost at night-Pigott and BST not so much from the looks of it.

Hi Kris! Would love to see Mannheim Steamroller some day. Love their music. This is the HSBC bldg. Our falcons have used this building quite frequently to perch on.

I’ve got it that in “BST” the “t” means tiercel, and it looks like BS is the location. But I can’t remember what BS acutally is. Can someone remind me?

OK, thanks, Carol! It was so pretty! Mannheim was awesome! This was the third time we’ve seen them at the Aud-one Fresh Aire tour and 2 Christmas concerts and they never disappoint!

I’ll bet they were awesome Kris, especially a Christmas concert. 🙂

It looks kind of serious with Mr. Best and Ms Piggot. Hope this lasts through the spring and when(if) Dot.ca comes back he is completely taken up by Beauty.

That would be great Alison!
