Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: Right now on A&E Haunted Inn in Rochester

I used to drive past this Inn everyday when I lived in Spencerport and worked in Churchville. I looked at houses in Adam's Basin when I was looking for my first house back in about 1980! I also went on a tour of the Inn once as part of a museum course on the Erie Canal. It's very nice. I ran into the current owner recently at the "Old House Parts" store in Rochester.

Rochester Falcons / Rfalconcam Website News / Re: A New Logo

#55 - appeals to me because the logo with and without the words is strong and identifiable. I see the falcon and circle as worldwide, not only as a logo, but an emblem. I could also see me proudly wearing the logo (without words) as a pair of earrings, or even as a bracelet/necklace charm, etc. With the words, it is simple enough to not distract from use with other designs, photos, etc.
I agree with Joyce. This is a simple, beautiful image which would make a very classy piece of jewelry. The logo with words is clear and not too busy and highlights the word "falcon" and also includes the word Rochester, which most of the others don't.

I knew about the caps cuz the city of Rochester tells you not to put them in the recycle bin. They should also tell you what you can do with them! That wouldn't be very polite.

Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Re: Nature Report: Peregrine Falcons Measure Oil Spill Effects

I wonder if they keep a record of any BANDED falcons they capture and test. If so, it would be nice if they made those records public so any interested parties could check the band numbers/colors and know the results. Then we'd know if any of "our" falcons have been located. Also, if any of the tested falcons do have evidence of oil contamination in their blood, all the "watchers" of those banded falcons could report back to the researchers and let them know if there has been any effect on the bird's ability to reproduce successfully. If they're going to all this trouble to capture and test hundreds of falcons, they should make use of the thousands of falcon-lovers around the world who are watching and recording every move some of those falcons make!

When I was a kid (45+ years ago!) I remember having stink bugs around in central NY in the Rome area, but I haven't had the pleasure of running into one since then. I was hoping maybe they were extinct!

Maybe the females are more likely to stay because they are more concerned with guarding the nest box and making sure no other females take an interest in it?
