I am so sorry about your Cally; I know how much it hurts.
Patricia NE Florida
Yesterday we lost our kitty Cally. She was a long-haired calico cat with golden eyes. Her fur was brilliantly colored. On March 12, 1993, we adopted her from the Nevada Humane Society. She was about a year old then, so she was around 20 years old. This wasn't sudden, as she has had failing kidneys for a few years, and been on a prescription cat food diet, and took Meds to help her. After a couple of weeks of slow decline, yesterday she became too weak to walk, so with the help of our loving veterinarian we gave her the last precious gift of release from this world.
Cally was an indoor only cat, and really was our baby. She loved life, she loved us, always wanting to be beside Bob or I, or on a lap being petted and purring. It would be much appreciated if one of you who knows how would please light a candle in her memory. Cally enhanced our lives, and we are grateful for having had her for so long.
Wishing you all a happy and loving New Year with all of our animal friends.

I don't know how to say this other than she suddenly passed away yesterday from a massive stroke. She had just gone home on Tuesday from a visit down here and we had a great time, she was doing really well. Anyone who met her just loved her, she was so much fun. She sure is going to be missed. Rest in peace "Sis" Nora, So sorry for your loss and our loss of Anne in Toronto. Like Janet, I too, have recently thought about the late Marty Vaughn, a great falconer; wow, could she tell a story. Peace be with you. Patricia in NE Florida

I am glad the people are safe! I do know the flooding, wind damage, and lengthy power outages, having experienced many a hurricane in NE Florida. We, in NE Florida dodged the bullet with Irene. Everybody, be careful and stay safe.

Well, Bobbie, Don't trust those clock hands either! More than once when I have awakened in the middle of the night and checked the time, the hands were positioned just in the wrong spot, so when it read, say 5:35, I read 7:25 and panic ensued. I could not tell the short -hand from the long -hand and that was before having to wear glasses. Now, without my glasses, I can't even find the clock!

I am so sorry about Scratch! I never met her, but I loved seeing her photos from the falcon watches. What an unusual and beautiful pet. I have never heard her history. Do share it when you can.

Nicole, I am so sorry for your loss of a beloved kitty cat. I know how very hard it is, having lost several much-loved cats over my lifetime. I have photos of several stuck on a picture frame over my desk: Thomas Anne (matriarch of my childhood), Shadow - (the great loving stray beast we adopted); Big Orange (a stray I catnapped from the old neighborhood when I moved to a new neighborhood) and last my dear, loving Little Moses (born in the neighbors woodpile; she fell over dead at 18 months of age). I have photos of others in my mind's eye! I know the grief of losing a pet; but I also know the joy a pet provides.
