Just read this by Donna Hayes: Lindsay McKenna has written a very special new book called THE DEFENDER, which we will publish in December and which features our very own Harlequin the Peregrine Falcon, along with some other very special characters, both birds and human. Lindsay is not only a wonderful writer, she is also an amazxing wildlife photographer and has a special place in her heart for birds of prey.
Yes and Ann Brokelman is in it too!! http://lindsaymckenna.com/2012/10/the-defender-november-2012/ After Donna saw the videos, she sent me an email telling me I had to connect with Ann Brokelman, a professional Canadian wildlife photographer. I did, and the rest was history! Coming soon!! I got the book as soon as I could find in when it was released last month. Finished it in 3 days and I have to say it is awesome!!! Since it is a suspense romance novel, there is a nice main storyline it in. But what i enjoy most is the writing on the raptors and the description of how a raptor centre is being run. An yes, Donna, Quest and Harlequin's names all made into the storyline. Lindsay McKenna's writing of the raptor characters are just beautiful

I was out this evening at the yellow page building to do my first fledge watch on Linh and Reuben's kids. it was an amazing experience. it was very comfortable and even windy/cold, it helps the babies and parents a little bit, all of them were in view and in good shape. Mark and Tracy were very kind to allowed us to see the release of Albus (who was rescued earlier in the day) back onto the ledge.

Toronto is getting some very nasty weather now (very very heavy rain, strong wind, lighting and thurdering.) I hope all member of quest and kendal family can find a dry corner to tuck in for the night.
Hi WW! Thankfully this storm will bring cooler air. 80 degrees (F) vs 90+. Hi hi Carol the storm last night did help toronto to cool down a bit. I was out this evening at the yellow page building to do my first fledge watch on Linh and Reuben's kids. it was an amazing experience. it was very comfortable and even windy/cold, it helps the babies and parents a little bit, all of them were in view and in good shape. Is anyone from here going to the banding this coming Monday?
Yes,Carol and Kathy are going for sure. I'm waiting to hear from Joyce. If she isn't going I will ride with Kathy and Carol. I am from Toronto, I will try to see if I can pop up at the banding. Have never been to one before but after watching our pefas (toronto and rochester) from the web this past year, the pefas and you girls feel like long-time friends for me. Will try to see you girls there.

well we know animals communicate to each other thru their own languages. sometimes i wonder how extensive their languages are. say for example, when quest tucked harlie in for the night when harlie was still a baby, would quest tell harlie stories of the wonderful places she has traveled to and inspire harlie to do the same before she settle down. it would be wonderful if they are capable of communicating such details to each other. sometimes, i also wonder after harlie leaves the nest and if she come back to visit next year. would quest and kendal be able to recognized harlie if harlie has a new coat of feathers on? too much thinking and wondering on a slow day at work.
