ROC the Day ? December 2, 2025
Once again, this year Genesee Valley Audubon Society and Rfalconcam will be participating in ROC the Day on December 2, 2025.  ROC the Day is United Way 24-hour, online event on giving Tuesday.  It provides an opportunity to support not-for-profit organizations, like GVAS.

There will be 24 ROC?n hourly bonuses on ROC the Day from 12:00 a.m. -11:59 p.m.
Random Donor Magic: On the odd hours during ROC the Day (i.e. 1am, 3am, 5am, etc.) one donor will be randomly selected to designate a gift of $500 to an organization participating in ROC the Day. (12 total winners)
Most Donor Power Play: On the even hours (i.e. 2pm. 4pm, 6pm, etc.) the ROC the Day organization with the highest amount of donors between the last two hours will receive $500.  Nonprofits cannot win this more than once. (12 total winners)

Please consider donating to Genesee Valley Audubon Society and/or Rfalconcam during ROC the Day.

Hi, All!

We've had a pair of Snowy Owls on/off Montrose Beach in Chicago all week. We can get a couple per winter -- or none -- but never so early. There have been terrific photos in the ebird checklists every day

Some kind of disassembled-looking owls in a couple of those shots, but anyone who's spent time around birds knows that they periodically take themselves apart for inspection/maintenance (often in the shower). Some of those threat poses were apparently in response to one of our local Peregrines dive-bombing them:
