She is in the NB now. It looks like she is digging another scrape. She was even laying on her chest using her feet to push the stone out of the way. Maybe we will get a second chance at some babies this year. Anyone know how soon after copulation she is able to lay an egg?

Earlier someone - was it Donna or Ei? posted an answer to my similar question:  that time is about three weeks after a failed clutch.  My question was "when does the failure date start"?  Is it when it is past the hatch date, or is it the date the egg decomposes and the couple abandon the nest?  So many new things for all of us who are watching with our breaths held this year.    I think it is new for all of us...even the experienced watchers in the field. And look at the firsts!  Quest wandering for three years and the first transmitter fitted Pefa to nest as she is.   We are privileged to be able to look into their world.  And that is all we do. By computer screen or on scene, we are observers to the wild world of mother nature and these wonderous falcons!   Lucky us!
