A crane’s chances of survival in the wild are slim without two legs so Macquisten decided to build a prosthetic limb. After a successful trial run using a wooden dowel, he set out to craft a more sturdy prosthetic using steel rods, lightweight wires and door insulation for padding— materials he found in his backyard shop.
