Bird ID Needed

Hi all. I need your help. My niece saw this bird in her backyard in Nashville today, and I'd like to help her identify it. Could it be a merlin? And perhaps a juvie?

My niece's neighbor says its a juvenile coopers hawk. So, coopers hawk or merlin?

Sure had the long tail like a coop or sharp. Any idea on the size of the pot it's perched on?

I was going by the shorter tail, thin legs and barring that goes closer to the legs which is indicative of a sharp shinned vs Coop.
