I would guess - tho I stand to be corrected - that rats will predate the nests and the eggs. Perhaps the hatchlings too. Not sure about the adult birds...

Rats probably eliminate WAY more birds (of ANY species) than cats do.

I think rats would eat anything that would hold still long enough including us.
They are smart too. Some with a nasty disposition (the one I met accidentally face to face was).
