My twelve-year-old daughter, Catherine, had a surprise for me when I came home from work on Tuesday. A beautiful grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus) had come to visit and she had managed to both photograph and identify it. I'm so proud!

Great job on the ID and beautiful picture, Catherine! Grosbeaks are one of our favorite summer visitors and this year, after a 2 year absence, we have 3 males and a female frequenting our feeders daily!

The males are so gorgeous! I used to get them to visit my feeders when I lived in Hamlin. Thanks for sharing.
