All together, everyone: Awwwww!

The Woodland Park Zoo’s newest creature is a somewhat lackadaisical-looking baby snowy owl — also known as an owlet, if you’re into owl terminology.

The chick lives in the zoo’s “Northern Trail” exhibit, but don’t expect to catch a glimpse of it just yet.

“At this time the chick isn’t visible to visitors because the mom is sitting on the nest and providing very good care,” curator Jennifer Pramuk said in a statement from the zoo. “Our expert zookeepers are monitoring the owlet, which appears to be in good health. It’s growing very quickly, so visitors should be able to spot it in a week or two.”

The zoo’s staffers aren’t sure if it’s a boy or a girl. But they’re pretty sure it’s adorable, which is why they released these pictures Friday.
