O'Connor's mom has been found dead at the age of 16 years.  She lost her territory to a younger female this week and was seen on the ground but not rescued.  Apparently she got into a fight with a red tail hawk and was killed.

A little blurb from an article earlier this week after she lost her site - just on her history:

She nested unsuccessfully at the Cleveland Clinic in 2000 before moving to Akron in 2001.

She and mates Bandit (he died in 2012) and later McKinley have hatched 53 eggs that produced 49 chicks in Akron, said Graber. Of that total, 36 chicks fledged or flew off on their own since 2001,

The news was posted on Michigan's FB website tonight...

Aww..there's finally closure. She certainly lived a good, long life and her legacy will continue through her offspring.  Thanks for posting, Carly.   crying

Saw that on fb, so sad but at the time they said she disappeared and she was seen on the ground and a new female is with her mate. Wonder if she battled with new female and was injured already? The RT was just too much for her. At least we know the sad story of what happened. Fly free  Sad  Thanks Carly.

C&C have added more this morning:

As anticipated, Chesapeake has reached the end. Her body was recovered in Akron after a witness saw her engaged in an aerial fight and then being overtaken on the ground by a red-tailed hawk. Thanks to DOW's Laurie for letting us know about Chesapeake's death personally and posting it to this page. RIP to a phenomenal peregrine!

Sounds like she might have been injured initially by Summit and the battle with the RTH was just too much.  Fly free, Chesapeake!  sorrow

At least she is no longer suffering.  She led a great peregrine life and did much for the propagation of the species.  Fair play to Chesapeake.   Sad
