Just wanted to share this story about the peregrines in Peoria, IL. I knew they put up a nestbox in the downtown area a few years back but it sounds like "momma" is nesting under a bridge near my workplace instead. Our building would be a perfect place for a box but I doubt corporate would go for it. I've contacted a friend that used to work at another nearby building that would be great too. In another article it said momma was born near a bridge in Michigan, thus her nesting at the bridge in Peoria.

Oh what a shame that many have probably died from drowning. What a great story Helen and now people are aware of the falcons nesting on the bridge. Next year, hopefully, there will be a fledge watch and more will survive. Even a nice nest box won't entice them from the bridge. Good luck and congrats, maybe now, someone can ID the parents. (The only problem with advertising the falcons on the bridge are the jerks who know now and may take advantage). Please keep us posted on any future news!

Oh, what a heart-rending story and picture!  And what a valuable lesson Ms. Hutchinson has taught her young daughter and her daughter's friend.  I am so glad that Freedom has been given another chance at life.  Hopefully she can experience the freedom of her name.  Thanks for posting, Helen.
