Hope was up in the tree this morning, enjoying the view. Then she climbed back down carefully, and went back into the nest. She and Juliet shared some fish, and Juliet preened Hope's head feathers.

The new, spacious set-up for Peace looks good.

Great pics, Alison!

An encouraging update on Peace today:

Update Feb. 26, 2017

You can view Peace live at www.acfbop.org. Peace has a nest approximately 3 feet off the ground on the right side of Cam 2. It was placed there to allow Peace to be with the other eagle in the flight barn. He will remain there and take flight when he's ready. Audubon staff has seen a considerable improvement in Peace’s behavior/activity since he was moved to the flight cage on Friday late afternoon. He is eating well and even begging the other eagle to feed him! His world is better and will soon be even better! We look forward to his release in the nest area when Audubon declares him ready.

The other view of Hope fledging; it's distant, but it does show her flying strongly.

Stay safe, beautiful eaglet!

Hope has not returned to the nest, nor has she been seen since she fledged six days ago. I hope she will turn up safe somewhere in the very near future.

An update on Peace and Bob:

Update on  "Bob" (flight mate with Peace at Audubon)

The non-flighted, adult, male Bald Eagle Audubon reference number 709-16 was recently removed from the flight because Peace wanted to be near him and the adult can not fly. The adult was a good choice and did a great job of being a surrogate to Peace, but Peace has progressed and Audubon wants to encourage Peace to work on his flight abilities, which Peace was not doing while the adult was in there.

Bob was moved to a smaller flight nearby. Once Peace flies and lands on the top perches (15' high on each end of the flight), his confidence level will change and nothing will stop him. Then Peace's release will be right around the corner!
