I don't watch this site often but is there something wrong with that smaller eyas?  It seems very weak and unsteady..maybe hatched later than others?  It's on its back and parent is oblivious.

Well, just looked and it's ok now...parent is shielding it.

Yes he hatched almost 2 days after the the other 3 and he barely gets any food when it's feeding time.  He takes a few bites when he does and he's down.  He is growing though, he's just not aggressive compared to the other three.  Hopefully he'll be okay.. Sad

There is a similar situation at Columbus this year as well, same thing - 4th one not very aggressive and not getting enough to eat and looking very weak.

Often times they do, others times they don't make it.  I know at some sites I've seen them take the smallest out at banding and keep him back and foster them at a nest with only 1 or 2 kids as the older ones just get more aggressive as they grow.  He's being out competed for food...Dixie does try, I've seen her try to give him bites but sometimes they are too big for him and so the larger kid grabs it.

Yankee's black band is on his right leg instead of his left which is consistent with your photo above Alison - I see the USFW on the left leg  Smiley

I know that Yankee's black band is on his right leg. I also caught a glimpse of it as he moved around while I was watching him, but decided not to post those images because the quality was so poor. Yankee's silver band on the left leg is visible in the first pic I posted.
