The article says that Peregrines prey on rabbits-I've never heard of that! Thanks for sharing Alison!  wave

You've never heard of it because when they are hunting wabbits, they are vewy, vewy quiet.

Another article on the Melbourne peregrine pair, which includes an excellent photo of both birds at the nest.

Yesterday the chicks were already out of the box, being well cared for by Mom.

They have been well fed, but one of the chicks became ill, and when I checked the cam this afternoon, the little one had not survived. Poor little chick, lost far too soon. Mom was trying so hard to get a response from the little chick.  crying crying

Very sad news from this site. We lost the second little chick today.  crying  crying

I noticed last night that while being fed, the chick appeared to be in some respiratory distress. He/she was able to eat, but with some difficulty. Today, the chick was no longer moving.

As with the first chick, I think that the probable cause was either Trichomoniasis or a toxin of some kind. With both chicks, the situation worsened quickly. I have seen no comments from Melbourne on the loss of either chick. Do they have no concern for what has been happening at their own website?
