At 7:48 am, DC was in the nest box with the eyases. Beauty came in to take over, but DC wasn't ready to leave. At 8:33 am, DC moved into the corner and B finally decided to leave. This was a different kind of stand off. lol

Interesting tid-bit: See that tiny white bump on the eyas beak? That's the "egg tooth" the eyas used to chip away at the egg until it broke open!

Thanks I love learning these details!
Question - lately Beauty has been down in the area below the edge of the front of the scrape. Is she letting them be "on their own" while keeping a close eye on them? It reminds me of when my kids were toddlers and I would occasionally let them think they were being independent while I could watch them.
So much fun watching these eyas grow!

If she's lying down in the area right in front of the box, she's sunning herself to get rid of feather mites.
One of the parents is somewhere within visual range of the eyases at all times. It might be challenging to find them, but they are there.

It's funny though because her head was sometimes below the edge and then I would see her peeking over the edge. Watching and learning about their behaviors is fun - grateful for the experts who answer questions!
