Some of you may remember that Susan C geocached a small peregrine falcon keychain in honor of Skye in January 2007. Her goal was for Skye to wander around the world, as peregrine falcons do, and eventually have Skye return to Rochester, NY, where she was born.

The journey started in the Phillipines, and 3 years later Skye finally made it home.  She is now in a cache in Greece Canal Ponds Park.  Hooray!!

Yesterday a group of watchers went on a geocache hunt to find the resting place for the Travel Bug Skye.  Susan C, Shaky, Carrie, Jeanne, Kathy O, Carol P, Brian and me (& doggies) met at Greece Canal Park.  Susan and Shaky had their GPS and we followed the hits posted on the website to find the cache in the woods. When we reached the coordinates, Susan C said go find it.  We all spread out to look, and Carol P found it.

To see Susan's face as she opened the cache was worth it!  The Spirit of Skye has been traveling for over 3 years.  It was in great condition, and still kakked!  The couple who brought her home left a message with Skye.  It was heartwarming.  Rarely do these travel bugs ever come back home. Carol P took some pics and when she gets a chance will share them.

It was truly a wonderful tribute to our precious Skye.  Susan C. did such a touching thing!  I will never forget Skye.  The very first time I came out to see the falcons was at her release.  She loved the building at the end of the High Falls bridge ("Skye's building").  Her life was brief and she didn't travel too far or too long after she left Rochester but her life mattered and she will be remembered.

Fly free, Skye! heart heart heart
