Oh no! I am so sorry to read about Jurist - and right after his mom, Stellar. So many sad things this season.

!!! The morning “falcon follies”.
July 27, 2011 - Brampton - Courthouse
CPF Postmaster Reports:

July 27th - 2011 - AM report:
Kinda Quiet, 6:30 to 8:30am

Courtney took two short flights , then flew to Truss on an antenna bumped her off and landed her herself, mom circled and reached out touching Courtney with a talon. Truss then took up a position on a nearby antenna.

Two short hunts (one including a stoop at a gull) for mom, no luck. They both settled down and were alert but settled in.

Empty Nest Syndrome
July 30, 2011 - Port Colborne - ADM Mill
Doug Garbutt Reports:

July 23rd was the last confirmed sighting of a juvie here. The parents are still seen every day. In fact the female we call Trillium is in the box for at least 4 hours every day. I think she finds it cooler in this heat wave that we have been experiencing. We hope that both young ones have learned to hunt & fend for themselves & perhaps one day we will hear from a falcon watcher somewhere that they have a family of their own .

They left early!

!!! Majesty, A Close Call !!!
August 04, 2011 - Toronto - King Street
Kathy Reports:

Majesty, the daughter of Ponce -Kingsley and Victoria, born here at King Street in 2002 and now nesting in Flint, Michigan recently had a foot injury.  She and Barry were busy raising 2 eyases when students noticed she had a serious foot injury, her leg had started to swell and her condition seemed to be deteriorating!  A bold move was made to catch her and as you will see in this video they did and were able to treat her and return her to her offspring the very same day!

Thank you to our good friends at CMNH for alerting me to this story and thanks to the folks in Flint for saving her life so that she may carry on with her legacy .  Links to video of the capture and links to CMNH with details follow:

Majesty is Cabot-Sirocco's (Mariah's first mate) sister.  Just to tie this to the Rochester Falcons.   lol

This is great.  I love that they care so much for "their" Falcons, especially the young man who does the talking.  I would love to meet him and shake his hand.

I'm so glad that they were able to capture her and take off her band and treat her injury.  When Mariah injured her foot so badly, I was so happy that she was unbanded.

Good job to all involved!  clap thumbsup heart

I wonder if they still  have some kind of identification on her. That young man was wonderful!  And it was pretty cool to see that they were able to grab her without injury to anyone!  Great skill!

!!! Life Returns to Quiet
August 08, 2011 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre
Kathy Reports:

It’s been very quiet the past few weeks with barely any sightings of any falcons, even Angel - who has been finding new places to perch away from the sun and heat.   But today there was a nice breeze and it wasn’t as hot so she was back on the ledge for awhile once the sun moved around the corner.

Sadly there has been no sightings of the boys for the past 3 weeks at all.  One can only hope  they are safe and are taking care of  themselves in this dreadful heat.

Today for the first time in a long time, I observed Jack flying in with lunch for Angel.  She was in the nestbox and the normal greetings between them ensued and she accepted his food offering.   When I left she was back on her beloved perch dozing with a nice full crop.
