So happy that this ended well for the young bear.  No one was hurt and he'll be taken somewhere safer than the middle of a college campus.  Good job by all!

A couple of years ago, we were having our annual Columbus weekend family gathering at my BIL's farmette in the Poconos.  When we woke up on Sunday morning, we discovered evidence of a bear visit to the back deck overnite:  bird feeders had been destroyed, nose prints all over the picture window looking out on the deck and a large "dump" just under the window.  My great-nephew had slept on the sofa just inside that window.  Being a teenager, however, he had slept through the whole thing.

Caught the RIT Bear on FNC last night (Shep does love these bear stories).  As for the Poconos and bears, those mountains are loaded with them.  I don't think anyone has bird feeders out up there any more.

One of the news casts here said it was a scary time but then showed all these students taking the bear's picture!  There is even a facebook page!  The kids have named the bear "Gibbs" because he was near Gibson dorm and have left messages like "sleep tight little bear."

Sooooo pleased that Gibbs' rescue/relocation went better than the one last year when the unfortunate bear was treed, tranquilised, fell, and died. I was so angry, as they let people in the neighbourhood just hang around and watch him. He was obviously terrified, poor critter.
